3 Current Trends We’re Seeing in the Home Design Industry

Did you know the world of interior design & furniture is similar to the fashion industry? How so?  Much like Paris or New York Fashion Week, the design community attends furniture markets several times a year. We visit our favorite vendors to see their new product lines and learn about emerging trends. Color of the Year is one of MANY trends in the interior design world we follow. Each market, we see new trends in not only color, but materials used, fabrics, furniture silhouettes, lighting, cabinets and more!

Trend #1: People are Staying Put because of High Interest Rates

You can’t turn on the news without hearing about “sky high” interest rates meant to put the brakes on recent inflation. Higher interest rates mean you could be paying a LOT more for a new home than you would have a few years ago. Add interest rates to the sizeable price increase we’ve seen in homes, and it’s no wonder lots of folks are opting to stay where they are and add-on or renovate to get the home of their dreams. And you know what? We’re here for it! We see room for improvement in every space.

Trend #2: Homeowners are Investing in Design Plans

Working with a design professional to put together a renovation plan for your home, whether the work is done all at once or in phases, ensures you’re making the most of the space you have! We can’t count the number of clients who thought their only option was to add on to or sell their homes. But with help from a creative design professional, you can often reconfigure and repurpose space in your existing home without adding on. Quality space planning services can be a home saver! Love It or List It, anyone?

Trend #3: AI is Changing the Way We Design Homes

AI can be a terrific tool for helping homeowners quickly visualize the changes we want to make to their home. AI will never be a substitute for a full service interior design firm, but it can certainly be counted as a great tool in our toolbox.
